Hyperthymesia 01

Superior Autobiographical Memory

Also known as photographic memory, eidetic memory, or hyperthymestic syndrome, is a condition in which an individual possesses a superior autobiographical memory, meaning he or she can recall the vast majority of personal experiences, events, and presented materials in his or her life.

It is a neurological disorder which leads people to be able to remember much more than the average person. Memories recalled by hyperthymestic individuals tend to be personal, autobiographical accounts of both significant and mundane events in their lives. The word “hyperthymesia” derives from Ancient Greek: hyper- (“excessive”) and thymesis (“remembering”).
